PK Joinery Product Warranty

Warranty Information

Thank you for choosing PK Joinery.

This warranty is provided by Papakura Joinery Limited trading as PK Joinery (“PK Joinery”, “we”, “our” or “us”).

Every piece of joinery is manufactured using quality materials and skilled craftsmanship. This warranty explains the cover we provide for our products, together with the conditions that apply.

For guidance on caring for your joinery before and after installation, please refer to the accompanying Timber Joinery Care & Maintenance Guide. Compliance with the recommendations in that guide forms part of the conditions of this warranty.

Warranty Coverage

PK Joinery warrants that its products are manufactured using sound workmanship and quality materials and are free from defects in manufacture.

Subject to the conditions outlined in this warranty, PK Joinery will repair or replace products that are found to have failed due to defects in workmanship or materials during the warranty period.

Warranty Period

Unless otherwise stated in your quotation or contract documentation, this warranty applies for five (5) years from the date of manufacture.

Where hardware, glazing systems, coatings or other third-party products are supplied, the relevant manufacturer’s warranty will apply in addition to this warranty where applicable.

Conditions of Warranty

To maintain the validity of this warranty, the following conditions must be met:

  • Joinery must be stored, handled and protected in accordance with the recommendations contained in the Timber Joinery Care & Maintenance Guide.
  • Joinery must be installed by appropriately qualified tradespeople and in accordance with accepted building practices.
  • Priming, painting or staining must be completed within the recommended timeframes using suitable coating systems.
  • Protective coatings must be maintained throughout the life of the joinery in accordance with the coating manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • The joinery must be used only for its intended purpose.

Intended Use

Joinery should always be selected for the environment in which it will be used.

For example, exterior panel doors are designed for use in weather-protected locations and should not be subjected to prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, driving rain or other conditions beyond their intended application.

If you are unsure whether a particular product is suitable for your project, please seek advice before installation.

What Is Not Covered

This warranty does not cover damage or deterioration resulting from:

  • Incorrect storage, handling or transportation.
  • Incorrect installation.
  • Failure to follow the recommendations contained in the Timber Joinery Care & Maintenance Guide.
  • Failure to apply or maintain suitable protective coatings.
  • Normal weathering, ageing or deterioration of surface finishes.
  • Natural movement, colour variation or grain characteristics of timber.
  • Damage caused by misuse, neglect, accidental impact or unauthorised alterations.
  • Structural movement of the building.
  • Products used outside their intended application.
  • Damage resulting from the use of very dark paint colours on joinery exposed to direct or indirect sunlight where excessive heat build-up may occur.

Natural Characteristics of Timber

Timber is a natural material.

Variations in grain, colour, texture and seasonal movement are inherent characteristics of timber and are not considered manufacturing defects.

These natural characteristics contribute to the unique appearance and performance of timber joinery.

Hardware, Glass and Surface Finishes

Hardware, glazing systems and coating products supplied by third-party manufacturers are covered by their respective manufacturer warranties.

PK Joinery will assist customers in identifying the relevant warranty provider where appropriate.

Limitation of Liability

Where a valid warranty claim is accepted, PK Joinery will determine the appropriate remedy, which may include repair or replacement of the affected joinery.

Remedial work carried out under this warranty does not include painting or refinishing unless agreed in writing.

Unless otherwise required by law, PK Joinery’s maximum liability is limited to the value of the joinery product supplied. This warranty does not extend to reinstallation costs, repainting, consequential losses or the costs of other trades unless expressly agreed by PK Joinery in writing.
